The Art of Richard Roth

Beginner's Luck, 2010, © Richard Roth

Richard Roth is an American minimliast post-modernism painter/designer. He reminded me greatly of Piet Mondrian (a favorite artist of mine) when I first saw his work. The way he used the entire canvas, a simple color scheme, and bold solid lines. I saw one painting of his while browsing and had to find more about him.

He is currently a professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University. Presently, his work is at The Group Exhibition in the Netherlands, so I have yet to see any of his work in person. A good selection and amount of his work his viewable on his website. I’m sure his work will return to the US soon so I have a chance to see it in person.
